Build a board. Save it.
Share it. Use it anywhere.
TinkySpeak is a free communication board you build the way you need it — for a parent recovering from stroke, a child who hasn't spoken yet, a patient in an ER, a guest at a town hall. No app to install. No account to make. Open the builder and start.
We're not word-building AAC.
We're real-world AAC.
Therapists graded us. F in word-building. A+ in real-world communication. That tradeoff is the product. The bus driver doesn't wait while you tap "I — want — to — take — the — bus." The ER nurse doesn't either. Neither does the line at the counter. So we built the other thing.
- Build novel sentences word-by-word
- Optimised for language acquisition over years
- Designed for kids raised on AAC from age 2
- $8,000–$15,000 device + therapist required
- "I — want — to — take — the — bus" (7 taps)
- Transfer intent fast
- Optimised for the moment you actually need to speak
- Designed for stroke survivors, autistic adults, anyone in a hurry
- Free. QR + browser. No therapist gate.
- "I need the bus" (1 tap)
Skip the word-building. Speak the meaning.
Three steps. No friction.
The board system is the same one we use with families and town halls. It's the simplest path we could find from "I need to say something" to "the device just said it."
Build
Open the Builder. Drop in tiles — words, phrases, pictures, emoji. Set the language. Pick a colour theme. AI can sketch a starter board from a one-line prompt if you'd rather not start from blank.
Save
Hit Save. Your board lands in your Saved Boards library — stored on your device, named whatever you want, renamed or deleted any time. No account. No upload. No one else can see it unless you share it.
Use & Share
Tap any tile — the device speaks. Need it on a second device?
Tap Share, scan the QR (or send the link, or export a
.tinkyboard file). The other device gets the same
board in seconds.
Free. Actually free.
AAC devices in the United States cost $8,000 to $15,000 and need a speech therapist to configure. That's a barrier we refuse to put between someone and their voice.
Why is it free? Because TinkySpeak's mission is to get a working communication board into the hands of every person who needs one — including the family that can't afford a $10,000 device, the school that won't budget for a per-seat licence, the town hall that has to serve every visitor regardless of language or speech ability. Towns, hospitals, and schools fund the deployments they sign up for. Personal use stays free.
Everything you need. Nothing you don't.
Every feature here is shipped and working today. We label clearly when something is a future plan — see the note at the bottom of this page.
Saved Boards library
Save as many boards as you want. Each one keeps its own name, language, tiles, and colour theme. Switch between them on any device with one tap.
Rename in place
Click the pencil. Type the new name. Hit Enter. That's the whole flow — no settings panel, no "are you sure" dialog.
Soft delete & undo
Delete a board and you get an 8-second window to undo. No "are you sure" pop-ups. We trust you, and we have your back.
Export as .tinkyboard
Download a single board as a portable file. Email it, drop it in a shared folder, archive it for a clinical session — your board, your file, your call.
Import on any device
Open the file picker and load a .tinkyboard. Imported boards merge into your library — duplicates skip themselves.
Per-row Share — QR + link + Web Share
Each saved board has its own Share button. Get a QR code, copy a link, or hand off to your phone's native share sheet. No round-trip through email needed.
Stored on your device
Your boards live in your browser's local storage — not our server, not anyone's cloud. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly share.
Multilingual
Each board picks its own speaking language. Use English at home, Spanish at the clinic, Haitian Creole at school. Every device supports the languages installed on it.
Start from a Quick Board.
Open use.html, tap the 📚 Boards pill in the top bar, and pick one. Each Quick Board is a single page of tiles you can tap straight away — no setup, no save needed. Save one to your library if you want to keep customising it.
What's coming, plainly
Today, your saved boards live on the device you saved them on.
To bring a board to a second device you Share it (QR, link, or
.tinkyboard file) — that works on iPhone, Android,
iPad, Chromebook, anything with a browser. Cloud sync
across your devices is in active development and will
roll out behind a clearly-labelled toggle. We won't auto-upload
anything to a server without you turning it on.
Open the Builder. Start now.
It's already free. There's nothing to sign up for. The next thing you do is type a tile.
